Golden Retriever training using verbal commands

One of the cutest as well as one of the smartest breed of dogs is the golden retriever.

They may require a longer training period, but once they have learned the basics, golden retrievers will be the most obedient dog you will ever come across.

You should keep in mind that reward training is a better method for training golden retrievers than leash training.

It is important that your dog knows he will get a treat if he obeys your command, and you need to make sure you reward him with a treat every time he follows your direction.

If you are Crate Training your golden retriever puppy, it is especially important to teach the basic commands like sit, stay, and lie as well as others. These commands are key for training all golden retrievers.

Leading the dog to the crate but putting toys he likes inside it is the first step, but then you need to teach him to stay in the crate after you have left.

By training you puppy to stay in a crate, you can be sure that he is in a safe place when you leave home. You are also giving him a place to stay when guests are in the house so he will not be bothersome.

Get the puppy used to going to his crate by telling him you are taking him to his home as you physically take him there during certain situations such as when guests arrive or when you are planning to leave.

After doing this a number of times, the puppy will learn what going home means, and as you give the command to go home, he will start going to the crate on his own.

It is probably best to begin with the go command and when the puppy knows where to head, you can follow and help guide him to the crate.

Teach him the stay command as soon as you get him inside so he will not leave the crate when he sees you leaving him.

It is advisable to teach other commands like lie or sleep to the puppy in the crate so he continues to stay in the three and does not come out until someone tells him it is time to leave the crate.
